LITHIUM BATTERIES FOR MOTORHOMES
Lithium batteries for Motorhomes are becoming the most popular upgrade, as they offer many advantages over traditional lead-acid batteries when heading OFF GRID. At LithiumPro we offer TWO perfect drop-in replacement options with the least hassle. LithiumPro batteries are compatible with all brands of motorhome. Adria, Autocruise, Autotrail, Autosleeper, Benimar, Burster, Cathargo, Concorde, Chausson, Coachman, Elddis, Frankia, Hymer, Pilote, Rapido, Swift etc.
Our low-profile lithium options are perfect for use in a Motorhomes as both options will fit in exactly the same space as you existing Lead-Acid battery. They are identical in size, we use a global DIN case size that mirrors your old AGM battery. Whether under the seat or in a battery box. The ULTRAVOLT or the more powerful ARCTICXTREME is the ideal ‘hassle-free’ drop-in-replacement. We also use solid brass terminal posts so you dont have to start changing your battery cables or connectors.
In most cases you can continue to use your existing chargers with LithiumPro batteries. As 99% of existing chargers in todays motorhomes are compatible with LithiumPro batteries from BCA, CBE, Dometic, Nordelectronica, Sargent, Schaudt EBL, Voltronic etc.
As we design & manufacturer our own batteries and are not an importer of off-the-shelf Lithium batteries sourced from the far east, this provides the clear distinction. LithiumPro Energy are in control of the charging logic on the Battery Management System (BMS). Hence we have broadened our charging parameters to ensure our batteries work 99% of all lead-acid charging profiles . WARNING: This is not the same for all lithium batteries so always check.
If your charger outputs a charge voltage from 13.8-14.6v. It will charge a LithiumPro battery just fine. If you are able select a LiFePO4 charging profile on your charger this is preferential, otherwise just select the closest setting to the optimal 14.4v
If you need help with this please call us on our technical support line, that can be found at the top of the page.
It is worth noting Lead-acid chargers work with our batteries but a dedicated Lithium based charger would always be preferable. Should you wish to upgrade to a Dedicated Lithium Charger and get the best out of your new investment please read this section here.

EXCELLENT Based on 31 reviews Posted on Violet Vyner2025-10-09Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Without question a 5 star product and amazing support! My story… had 2 agm batteries on my campervan van and wanted to upgrade. Did loads of research into lipo4 batteries. I then talked to a really helpful guy at Lithium pro. I asked thousand questions about inverter compatibility and my existing bms etc. . He was very patient and answered everything without any sales pitch. I ended up buying the arctic extreme 175amp v2 along with the victron mains charger. There is no denying it is an expensive battery, but with the good warranty and features and build quality inside the battery, I felt that this battery would last me pretty much for my lifetime! ( in my sixties) . The battery is now installed in my van, with me asking more rather moronic questions on the whatsapp support ( they reply quickly). The phone app is super cool and i can see everything you could want to see re battery management. As for the power, im trying to run the battery down to zero ( to calibrate the app thing… just need to do it once) and after 2 days with fridge on its STILL got 87 per cent left! Excellent battery, excellent support and imo worth the money.Posted on malcolm gibson2025-10-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had my Lithium Pro 105Ah battery now for just over 12 months, well, what a game changer is has been. Did not tend to send much time off grid before because of "battery anxiety" but that is now a thing of the past. I have the blue tooth capable one and the app that you get is just brilliant, lets you know exactly what the status is and more. Took me a while to decide to take the plunge but glad I did. Wish I had done it sooner. At one point before a three week trip looked like it was not charging on electric hook up and phoned their technical service. They were brilliant, turns out it was my van with the issue but they talked me through it and helped get me sorted. 5 star service for reliability and post sales help.Posted on dave gledhill2025-08-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Purchased a 105ah battery from them for my motor home. It's a direct replacement for my existing lead acid battery. No need to change the terminal connections or change my existing charger. The app to check on my battery has a good interface and allows me to double check that I have not left anything on when I park my motorhome up for a couple of weeks. Glen at the office was super helpful when due to user error, I let my battery drain a bit too much. He diagnosed the problem in seconds. Thank you.Posted on Jackie Short2025-07-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have had our 175 lithium battery for our caravan for a year and it works well and nice not to worry about the battery draining like a lead battery. We worked out that it will pay for itself within another year not needing electric hook up. We are mainly off grid and battery is sufficient for our usage. The people at Lithium Pro are all helpful and knowledgeable and would recommend them.Posted on Glynn Rixom2025-07-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Decided to bite the bulletin and go lithium and purchased a 105ah Ultravolt. I was a bit worried the cost would outweigh the benefits. I recently went away for 3.5 days totally off grid. I previously was very careful in my 12v usage when off grid and managed to eke out my AGM battery for 3 days. This time I didn’t bother being careful with my 12v usage. We had showers every day, kept lights on until late, used Sat Tv every night etc etc . Ended up with 56% battery indicating I could have survived off grid for 6 days. Overall very impressed and happy I took the plungePosted on Glen Mcleod2025-06-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I bought a 280amp seat base battery from Lithium Pro about 6 weeks ago this is probably the best upgrade I have ever made. I have 200w solar and a b2b charger and since fitting it I have not had to plug into grid power at all yet. I have a compressor fridge that I can run 24/7 with no worries. As most of my camping is off grid this makes things so easy. Glen is very knowledgeable and gave me some good advice. The icing on the cake was I got a phone call from Glen yesterday checking everything was working as it should, how many other companies do that after they’ve got your money. I can’t recommend this company and it’s products enough 5 STAR product and 5 STAR service.Posted on Jon West2025-06-10Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Articxtreme is a perfect fit for UK caravans and more than powerful enough to move my 2.3 ton VanMaster. So much better than lead acid. The charger was also easy to install and is very fast at charging. Staff always answer the phone and are very helpful, troubleshooting step by step and finding practical solutions. So glad we found LithiumPro. Highly highly recommended. Thank you, JonPosted on T&P2025-05-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a 280ah Underseat battery fitted from Lihium Pro Energy and we can’t say enough about their fast delivery but also their aftermarket service is fantastic. We not tech minded but Glen and the lads walked us through all the settings to make sure everything was OK not only with the battery but also all our charging and solar settings to make sure they are working to the optimum efficiency. Thanks again for a great product and a reasonable price and for such good service.Posted on gary stubbington2025-05-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Didn’t believe how easy it was to upgrade to lithium batteries. With the information they gave me it really helped to install. You need a bit of knowledge but I made several phone calls just to make sure. I’ve have had it for several months now and really happy with it. Thank youPosted on Gareth Mckee2025-05-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. So I had a lot of back and forth chat with Glen. He is very knowledgeable and interesting guy if you're into batteries. So I left my review a good while to test the battery. I bought the 175AH arcticxtreme V2. This fits into a standard (low profile) caravan locker. I actually get 182AH from it. So it's more than rated. I upgraded my solar to victron 175w and mppt. Then I upgraded my BCA charger from apuljack to lithium profile. Quote expensive really. But we have a coachman xcel and did suffer with AGM not lasting at all. Using the battery app I can see our movers pull 100 amps at times. No idea how the wires don't melt actually. Then the leveling. No wonder AGM batteries are not so good. Since moving to this I have never been near flat. Even running a coolbox fridge and no hook up for 4 days. No problem. The solar with this battery smash it easily. I would always use these batteries. I don't think you can match the case size Vs power output. Really solid product even in winter.
Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries (LiFePO4) can be used as a versatile alternative to 12v Lead-acid leisure batteries in most situations. The term ‘plug & play’ refers to being able to remove your old battery and replace with a new battery without having to change anything.
LithiumPro Energy offers a series of batteries that have global DIN standard size battery cases, that fit perfectly into your motorhome, caravan, campervan or boat. Our new generation of battery is the same size shell as your old lead-acid battery. Meaning they are identical in size and shape.
We use the same brass terminal posts for ease of installation we have retained the base rail at the bottom of a traditional Lead-Acid battery, so you can secure your new lithium battery in exactly the same place. There is no need to think of inventive way to secure your new battery
All LithiumPro batteries can be charged with the majority of Lead acid chargers as long as they charge between 13.8-14.6v. Many modern chargers now have a dedicated lithium LiFePO4 charging profile setting. It is best to select this setting as it will charge faster, more efficiently with extra built in safety parameters.
We have prepared a dedicated chapter to charging your lithium battery. An easy flow chart to guide you through whether you need to upgrade your chargers, how the chargers work and how to install them – follow the link below.
No, you do not need to change your existing solar charge controller to charge LithiumPro Batteries.
Modern motorhomes are typically equipped with a solar charge controller to manage energy from the solar panels. However, if your motorhome has an older PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) charge controller, it may be worth considering an upgrade. PWM controllers are now somewhat outdated, as advancements in technology have introduced MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controllers, which are significantly more efficient.
MPPT charge controllers are more efficient than PWM controllers, by extracting more energy from the same solar panel. For example, with an MPPT controller, you could achieve up to 35% more charge from your existing solar panel setup.
If your motorhome is already equipped with an MPPT solar charge controller, simply adjust the charge profile to ‘LiFePO4.’ This setting ensures a safer and faster charge for your LithiumPro battery, optimising performance and longevity.
Yes you can charge a lithium battery from your alternator. This is a great source of energy and a powerful and quick way to recharge your battery.
You will need to put a box in between to regulate the voltage that your alternator outputs.
If your vehicle has stop start technology and you wish to charge from your alternator you will need to fit a Battery to Battery or DC-DC charger.
The problem with split charge relays or Voltage-Sensitive Relay (VSR) is they do not monitor the state of charge level of the leisure battery; they only respond to the voltage of the starter battery. As a result, it will continue to pass charge to the leisure battery as long as the alternator is running and the starter battery voltage is above the VSR’s cut-in threshold. This can potentially lead to overcharging if the leisure battery is full and no additional protection is in place.
When using a LithiumPro Battery, your battery is safeguarded against overcharging along with many other protections by the advanced Battery Management System (BMS). This sophisticated system provides robust protection to ensure safe and efficient operation.
So why add an additional safeguard?
Relying solely on the BMS for protection is not considered best practice in electrical design. To enhance safety and reliability, it’s highly recommended to use a Battery-to-Battery (B2B) or DC-DC charger when charging lithium batteries via your alternator.
Benefits of a Battery-to-Battery Charger. (B2B charger) / DC-DC Charger
By integrating a B2B charger into your setup, you not only protect your battery but also ensure long-term performance and reliability for your electrical system.
If your vehicle is new and meets EURO 5 emissions or greater ie you have to use ‘Ad Blue’ then your vehicle more than likely has ‘Stop-Start’ technology. This means the alternator fluctuates the output voltage at the alternator depending on the vehicles exact requirements at a given time. The voltage can fluctuate from 0-16v which is not conducive to charge any battery, so if you wish to charge via the alternator you will need to fit a Battery to Battery or DC-DC charger to regulate the both the voltage and the current the battery will receive.
Weighing in at less than 60% of your old deep cycle Lead-acid leisure battery, LithiumPro batteries represent a huge weight saving. a standard 100AH AGM battery weighs from 20-28kgs vs just 10kgs for the ULTRAVOLT Lithium battery.
Two of our ARCTICXTREME batteries providing a whopping 350ah are designed to fit perfectly under the seat of you Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroen Relay. See diagram. Recharge them in as little as just 2 hours with a Victron battery to battery charger from you alternator and you’re ready to drain again. They can be used with your existing charger and connect seamlessly to your solar system.
In short, no, it is not compulsory to use a dedicated lithium battery charger to charge LithiumPro batteries. While it is recommended for optimal performance, and preserving the life of your battery it is not essential. Any normal lead-acid battery charger designed to output a Constant Voltage Constant Current (CCCV) charge profile, between 14.2v-14.6v which 95% of chargers do, then this is fine and safe for LithiumPro batteries. However, charging may take a bit longer and be slightly less efficient compared to using a dedicated lithium charger with a LiFePO4 charge profile.
Many battery chargers will have pre-programmed settings for different battery chemistries. For Lithium batteries, select the ‘LiFePO4’ profile or the closest charge profile between 14.2-14.6v.
For those who prefer to upgrade their charging system for more efficient and faster charging, we have provided a list of chargers that are compatible with our lithium batteries.
You can charge your Lithium battery using any or all of the three simple ways listed below:-
1. Harness your alternator’s surplus power to deliver a steady 14.4v charge voltage. Click here for DC-DC Chargers
2. Using a MPPT Solar Charge Controller, you can charge your leisure batteries at a regulated voltage using solar panels ability to harness the suns energy. Click here for Solar Charge Controllers
3 Using a Mains hook-up charger, you can use a domestic 240v electricity supply to charge you leisure batteries via hook-up or shore power. Click here for Mains Chargers
IMPORTANT: When you first receive your battery, fully charge it until you get a ‘Cell Over Voltage’ (COV) notification. This indicates the battery is fully charged. Then, complete a full discharge until you get a ‘Cell Under Voltage’ (CUV) notification, showing the battery is fully discharged. This process allows your Battery Management System (BMS) to calibrate the State of Charge (SOC) in your app. The BMS will then learn to provide more accurate data, understanding both the 0% and 100% charge parameters.
Your Lithium Battery with a Constant Current Constant Voltage charger CCCV with a LiFePO4 charging profile.
Absorption should be set to 14.2-14.6v
Float should be set to 13.5-13.9v
De-sulfation/Equalisation should be switched off
It is recommended to charge your battery at ≤0.5C (0.5 times the battery’s rated capacity). For instance, if the battery has a capacity of 100Ah, the recommended charging current would be ≤50 amps. Please observe the maximum charging capacity listed on your battery.
The more powerful the charger the quicker it will charger you battery, so the higher the Amperage of the charger the quicker it will charger.
Our recommendations
Batteries under 100ah – use a 20A charger – this should take 5 hours to charger from empty
Batteries over >150ah – use a 30A charger – This should take 5 hours to charge
Larger batteries over 250ah – use multiple charging sources to replenish your battery. Solar, Alternator and Mains. Using your vehicles surplus power to charge your large battery is very efficient. You will need to fit a DC-DC Charger, also know as a battery to battery charger.
Most Victron chargers already have a Lithium charging profile. However, should you wish to personalise your settings, please use the following;
Absorption voltage: 14.4V
Absorption time: Recommended setting is half an hour per 100ah of LiFePO4 battery (for example if you have 2x 150ah batteries select 90mins).
Float Voltage: 13.5V
Equalisation voltage: This must be disabled on all Lithium batteries as this can damage the battery with pulses of high voltages. This is designed for lead acid batteries to add with desulfation.
Temperature compensation: This should also be disabled on Lithium batteries.
Charged Voltage: This is where your battery is considered fully charged – Lithium batteries should be set to 14.4V for Victron equipment.
Low Temperature cut-off: The Drift batteries have low temperature charging protection built into the battery. You can leave this off.
Discharge Floor: 0%
Tail Current: This is the minimum current at which the Smart Shunt considers charging or discharging finished. We recommend 4%.
Peukert Exponent: Not required – this is for Lead Acid batteries.
Yes our DIN Series batteries are all ‘Drop-In’ Lead-Acid replacements. They are exactly the same size and shape as your old Lead-Acid batteries with the exact same terminal posts, so there is not need to change your electrical connections. You can even use you existing charger in most cases. They even have the base rail at the base to safely secure your battery in place. No need to look for inventive ways to strap a chinese replacement battery down. Click here for ‘Drop-In’ replacement batteries.
Yes, all LithiumPro Energy batteries can be connected in Series or Parallel up to a maximum of 4 units. Our SMARTIQ BMS APP with also be able to display your battery system as a whole in both Series or Parallel configurations.
WARNING: Never connect Lithium batteries of different brands, capacities, or ages together. All brands have unique Battery Management Systems (BMS), and mixing can cause imbalances in charging or discharging, potentially leading to overheating and premature failure. NOTE: Always fully charge each battery separately before connecting them in series or parallel. LithiumPro batteries can be configured as follows:
For series configuration, ensure each battery is charged to within 0.05V of each other to prevent imbalances.
For parallel configurations, use cables that are as short and identical in length as possible; batteries naturally equalise in voltage when connected this way.
Lithium batteries are extremely reliable technology. If cared for and looked after according to the manufacturers guidelines you should still be using your battery in 10+ years time. LithiumPro Energy only use traceable Grade-A Prismatic cell technology in all of their batteries which are capable of over 4000-8000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge.
